New Emergency Home Loan Program Not Offered in Michigan

A new federal $1 billion Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP), that was created by the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill, will not be offered to citizens in the state of Michigan.

If you are a Michigan resident, there are other Michigan HUD Housing programs available to you.

The goal of this program is to help homeowners that have lost their jobs or are unemployed to avoid foreclosure and to be able to keep paying their mortgage monthly payments by giving them zero-interest loans of up to $50,000, with provisions for forgiving the loans over five years.

This program will first be offered in these states:

  • Pennsylvania
  • Maryland
  • Connecticut
  • Idaho
  • Delaware

This program is not available to people in Michigan, California, and Nevada according to the Wall Street Journal.

  1. Ray Lanfear says:

The program should be offerred in Las Vegas, Nevada, one of the hardest hit areas of the United States, for drop in home value and 1 out of 7 properties are under water here or more. The current program does not
fit the average homeowner who is considering a stategic default, The EHLP program does and should help out the home owners in Las Vegas and not be exclusive to only a few states. Average drop in value in last 4 years in Las Vegas is over 61%.

  2. Vida says:

Rich:Not much to say about this circumstance, is there? I wdloun’t waste the effort. All I would say is that in the long run you may have been protected. Sometimes God aborts the well laid intentions and dreams of His servants, for a protective purpose. He knows the future. We do not. His providence, his plan, his care is particularily directed at those whose hearts are pure. I could say more, but won’t, because it would not be appropriate in such a forum. The bottom line is that in a year or two, you will be thanking God for the unforseen abortion of your employment status. May God provide for your needs. Keep marching on! Keep blogging my brother .
