Minnesota HUD Housing Programs

The Minnesota HUD Housing Program is a part of the federal government Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which was established in 1965 to create policies for housing and city expansion. Currently, Minnesota HUD’s primary mission is to enforce fair housing laws in order to create a more suitable living environment for all Americans.

Minnesota HUD Housing Programs

One of the main goals of HUD in Minnesota is to make Minnesota housing affordable and to make the opportunity for homeownership available to families who are on a limited income. This is done via programs that offer some of the following services:

• Counseling for first-time home buyers,

• Help with loan acquisition,

• Advice on avoiding foreclosure,

• Rental assistance for low-income families.

  1. Ruby M Steward says:

It is getting more difficult in this area for Resident Councils to be a separate entity from the management of the hi-rise apartments of the housing authority in this city. It seems that when particular rules are brought to the attention of directors and management, people get evicted and some are banned from meetings. Now the managers are in control of the resident councils in our city, they will not listen to us though regulations we showed and the MOU”s agreements point out the infraction of the rules…
The main concern is that residents of Public Housing hi-rises here do not know there is a place where they meet and discuss and suggest what the residents need. Not be told by a system of managers that do not live in the building, do not care, and do not know the real living atmosphere.
